[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Joel Williams tried a jury trial in the Circuit Court of Jefferson County, Alabama from July 23-26, 2018. The Plaintiffs were a warehouse owner and its fire insurer, who paid extensive repair damages after a fire. Joel represented a construction company that rented the warehouse. The insurance company alleged that the Defendant’s employees negligently placed a cloth chair against a built-in wall heater which ignited the chair after the men in a small office had left for the day. The major issue in the case was “what caused the heater to come on into heat-mode.” Each side had expert investigators and engineers. The jury returned a defense verdict in about 40 minutes and also rendered a verdict in favor of the construction company on its counterclaim for breach of the lease.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
